Training that keeps up with a hotel roster, across every property
For learning, operations and quality leaders in hotels, resorts, restaurant groups and catering companies. Food safety, fire and life safety, POSH and brand-standard training that a room attendant or a commis chef will finish on their own phone, in the language they work in, covering contract and seasonal staff as well as your own, with completion visible per property and exportable on the day an audit asks for it.
What makes learning hard in hospitality specifically
The constraint is not the content. It is that the audience is on a shift, on their feet, standing in a place with no signal, and a good share of them are not on your payroll.
Onboarding never stops
People join in ones and twos, all year, across departments and properties. An induction programme that runs once a quarter is out of date the week after it runs and leaves whoever joined on the Tuesday learning the standard by watching the person next to them.
Nobody on the floor has a desk
Housekeeping, kitchen, service and front office work a shift on their feet. Most of them have no company laptop and often no company email address. Training that assumes a desk reaches the people who needed it least.
A large part of the floor is not your payroll
Contract housekeeping and security, agency banquet staff hired for a peak week, trainees, and in a group the staff of a franchised or managed property. The guest cannot tell the difference and neither can an auditor, but per-user pricing decides whether they get trained.
English is the standard's language, not the floor's
Brand standards, food-safety procedures and HR policies are written in English. The person expected to apply them at the buffet line or in the linen room works in Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Malayalam, Odia or Nepali. A briefing translated on the spot at pre-shift is not a controlled process.
Guest judgement and safety-critical procedure share one roster
The same attendant has to read a guest well and hold a holding temperature exactly. One of those is coaching and the other is pass or fail, and a programme that treats them the same either patronises the first or waves through the second.
Peaks arrive with a second workforce
Wedding season, festival season, a conference month, a resort in high season. Headcount rises with casual and agency staff precisely when no head of department has an hour to spare for a classroom.
Who has to be trained, and why each one is difficult
A hotel is not one audience. It is a dozen, on different shifts, with different devices, different languages and different employers.
- Housekeeping
- The largest deskless population on most properties and frequently on a contract. Room and public-area procedures, cleaning-chemical handling, guest privacy and lost property, and the physical-safety rules that go with the work. Needs short video in a regional language, on a personal phone, finished between rooms rather than in a training room.
- Kitchen and stewarding
- Chefs de partie, commis and stewards working to an HACCP-based food-safety system: temperature control, storage and labelling, cross-contamination, allergen segregation and cleaning schedules. The most audited training on the property and the hardest to pull people out of service for.
- Food and beverage service
- Restaurant, bar, banquet and in-room dining. Allergen questions asked at the table, hygiene and grooming standards, and responsible alcohol service under whichever state excise rules the property sits under. Judgement and hard rules in the same shift.
- Front office and concierge
- Check-in and registration requirements, payment handling, complaint recovery and the property emergency procedure. They are the desk a guest complains to first, so policy and product changes have to reach them in days rather than at the next induction batch.
- Banquets and events
- Headcount that doubles for a peak week on agency or casual staff who still have to know the fire exits, the allergen policy and the service standard before the first cover goes out.
- Security, engineering and maintenance
- Fire and life safety systems, evacuation drills, permit-to-work, plant room and pool safety, and incident procedures nobody rehearses often enough. Frequently contractors, and frequently the team an inspection asks about first.
- Spa and recreation
- Therapist protocols, hygiene, consent and guest-safety procedures, plus pool and gym supervision rules. A small team on most properties and the one a programme built around the big departments quietly misses.
- Contract, agency and franchise staff
- Held to your standard, wearing your brand in front of your guest, and not in your employee directory. Needs the same training as your own team, in separate organisational units, without a per-user charge deciding who is covered.
- Quality, HR and the general manager
- Not the audience for the training so much as the audience for the evidence. Needs completion, assessment and version records by property, department and shift, exportable without asking a corporate team of two to build a report.
What forces mandatory training in hospitality
These are the obligations hospitality buyers describe to us. What applies to you depends on your licences, your state, your brand or management agreements and your own policy, and they change. Read the third column as what the platform contributes, not as a compliance claim: MobiLearn produces training and the evidence that it happened, and it does not inspect or audit a property.
| Obligation | Who it lands on | What MobiLearn gives you towards it |
|---|---|---|
| Food-handler training under the FSSAI food-safety regime, with a certified Food Safety Supervisor on the premises | The licence holder, the general manager and the executive chef | Assignment by role for every food handler, with pass thresholds, certificates and per-property records. The supervisor certification itself comes from an approved training partner rather than from us |
| HACCP-based food-safety procedures kept current and trained against | The executive chef, food and beverage, and quality | Versioned content with reassignment when a procedure changes, and a per-person record of the version each learner completed |
| Fire and life safety training, and evacuation drills on a set cycle | The occupier, the general manager, security and engineering | Scheduled reassignment on your cycle, scenario questions on the property's own procedure, and completion by property, department and shift |
| Training and awareness under the POSH Act, and orientation for the Internal Committee | The employer, HR and the Internal Committee | Organisation-wide assignment reaching non-employees on the premises too, in the languages people work in, with completion evidence and certificates |
| Responsible alcohol service under the state excise rules the property sits under | The licence holder and food and beverage management | Short modules for bar and service staff held as separate versions per state, rather than one national course that is wrong in half the estate |
| Brand-standard and quality-audit training in a chain or under a management contract | The owner, the operator and the property quality function | One approved standard produced once and assigned across properties, with completion separated per property so the group sees which one is behind |
| Hygiene, grooming and guest-safety standards applied to contract and agency staff too | The property, whoever employs the person | Non-employee organisational units inside the same contracted workforce band from 1,000 learners |
| Producing the training record for a brand audit, a food-safety audit or an inspection | The general manager, quality and HR | Learner, date, score, content version and certificate, exportable by property, department and shift |
Read this column carefully
MobiLearn produces training and the evidence that it happened: who was assigned, who completed, who passed, on which version of the material, exportable on demand. It does not make an organisation compliant, it is not legal or regulatory advice, and the obligation stays with you and your advisers. Anyone who tells you their LMS delivers compliance is selling you the wrong thing.
How a brand standard becomes trained shifts
The input is the standard, the food-safety procedure or the policy you already have. Nothing needs writing twice.
- Draft the training from the document you already control. The brand standard, HACCP procedure, POSH policy or pre-shift briefing becomes short visual lessons and assessment questions in minutes. Your quality or HR reviewer approves before anything reaches a shift.
- Produce the regional-language versions from that same approved source. Voiceover, subtitles and agreed terminology in the languages your properties actually run in, so the attendant is trained in the language they think in rather than the one the manual happens to be written in.
- Assign by property, department, shift and contractor unit. Your own team, contract housekeeping, agency banquet staff and franchise property teams assigned from one place, with induction triggered on joining instead of waiting for the next batch.
- Deliver it on the phone in their pocket, network or no network. Downloaded on the staff wifi and completed in a back-of-house break, a service corridor or on the staff bus, with progress syncing when the device is next online. A laundry basement stops being the reason a module was never finished.
- Gate the mandatory modules on understanding. Scenario questions that ask what the attendant does when the buffet holding temperature reads wrong or a guest declares an allergy, with pass thresholds and reattempt rules. A signature on a briefing sheet is not the same thing.
- Give the head of department a list, not a report. Each duty manager and head of department sees who on their shift has not started, who stalled and who failed, with nudges aimed at exactly those people.
- Export the evidence when the audit lands. Learner, date, score, document version and certificate, filtered by property, department or shift, produced from the record rather than from a folder in the HR office.
What a hotel group needs, and what produces it
The general manager and the quality function care about the right-hand column. The middle column is only how it happens.
| Business requirement | MobiLearn capability | Operational benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Onboarding has to run continuously, not quarterly | Induction assignment triggered on joining, with deadlines and escalation | Someone who joined on Tuesday is trained in their first week rather than at the next batch |
| Staff must be trained in a language they work in | Regional-language video produced from one approved English standard | A room attendant in Chennai is trained in Tamil from the same standard the auditor reads |
| A large part of the floor is not on your payroll | Non-employee organisational units inside the same contracted workforce band | Contract housekeeping and agency banquet staff are trained because the guest meets them, not when the licence permits it |
| Nobody can be taken off the floor for a classroom | Two to five minute modules completed on a personal phone, offline | Training happens in the gaps a shift already has instead of costing service cover |
| A group needs one standard and per-property visibility | One approved source assigned across properties, with reporting separated by property | The group sees which property is behind before the brand audit does |
| Peaks arrive with a second workforce | Bulk assignment to a seasonal unit with deadlines set before the first shift | Casual staff know the fire exits and the allergen policy before the first cover goes out |
| Guest judgement is not the same as a mandatory procedure | Coaching content and campaigns running alongside gated, assessed compliance modules | Service quality is coached while the safety-critical modules stay pass or fail |
| Evidence is asked for by an auditor rather than by you | Versioned content with completion, score and certificate records, exportable | The version question is answered from the system in minutes |
What this looks like in the product
The food-safety programme view by property and the topic-level view a quality lead would open before a brand audit.
Illustrative screens with sample data, for approval. They are replaced with live MobiLearn captures before launch.
Customer evidence
The hospitality deployment story publishes here once a customer approves it
A named or precisely described property or group, with the number of properties covered, the contract and seasonal population included, the languages produced, the period and the measurement method, goes here as soon as a customer agrees to publication.
There is no "trusted by leading hotel brands" line above it either, because we would not be able to tell you which hotels or what we actually did for them. Ask on the demo and we will walk you through a live account with the customer's permission, which is worth considerably more than a row of logos.
What hotel IT, quality and HR ask first
Everything below is stated as it currently stands, including the parts that are not finished.
- Offline behaviour
- Content downloads on the staff wifi and plays with no connection. Progress, scores and completion sync when the device is next online. Basements, laundries, service corridors and back-of-house lifts are exactly where the signal is not, so test this first on the demo.
- Devices
- Built for the entry-level Android phone a room attendant already carries, not for a corporate laptop. Shared-device and kiosk patterns for departments where personal phones are not carried on shift are configured during implementation.
- Contract, agency and franchise staff
- Managed as separate organisational units outside your employee directory, so a contract housekeeping team or a franchised property can be trained without being created in your HRMS.
- Multi-property groups
- Assignment, reporting and evidence separate by property and by brand, with group-level visibility across the estate where your agreements and governance allow it.
- Identity
- Single sign-on and HRMS synchronisation for employees, so joiners, transfers between properties and leavers drive assignment without manual administration.
- Languages
- Regional-language versions are produced from one approved English source with voiceover, subtitles and agreed terminology. The exact list for your properties is confirmed during implementation rather than assumed from this page.
- Data residency and deployment
- India region available. Shared cloud, dedicated cloud, your own cloud account, private VPC or on-premise, with only the deployment and operational responsibilities scoped separately.
- Certification status
- VAPT, ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type 2, DPDPA and GDPR, each set out on the security page with its scope.
The programmes hospitality teams run on MobiLearn
Industry shapes the constraints. The programme itself is one of these, and each has its own page with the full workflow.

Does MobiLearn make our properties FSSAI or POSH compliant?
No, and no platform does. MobiLearn produces the training and the evidence that it happened: assignment, completion, assessment scores, content version and certificates, exportable on demand. Whether that satisfies a specific obligation is a judgement for you and your advisers, and we do not inspect or audit a property. Where a certification has to come from an approved training partner, such as the Food Safety Supervisor certificate, it comes from them rather than from us.
Can we train contract housekeeping and agency banquet staff?
Yes, and in hospitality this is usually the deciding question. Non-employees are managed as separate organisational units outside your employee directory, and from 1,000 learners they sit inside the same contracted workforce band, so covering a contract or seasonal population does not reprice the licence. Below 1,000 learners the focused rollout does carry a per-learner component, so tell us the contract population early and we will size the band around it rather than around your payroll alone.
Does it genuinely work with no network in back of house?
Yes. Learners download on the staff wifi and complete modules with no connection at all, and progress syncs when the device is next online. Test it first on the demo, because in a hotel the basement, the laundry and the service corridors are what decide whether everything else is usable.
Which languages are supported?
Regional-language versions are produced from one approved English source with voiceover, subtitles and agreed terminology. Confirm the specific list for your properties on the demo rather than taking it from this page, because it is the one thing worth checking against the languages your own floor actually works in.
Can a group see every property without each property seeing the others?
Yes. Role-based permissions give a head of department their own team, a general manager their property, and the corporate quality or learning function the whole estate, with franchised and managed properties separated from owned ones where your agreements require it.
How quickly can a changed standard reach the floor?
The draft is generated from the standard or the policy in minutes. What sets the date is your review and how many language versions you want, so production stops being the reason a changed procedure takes a month to reach a shift.
Bring one brand standard to the demo
Send us a real food-safety procedure, POSH policy or brand standard beforehand. We will turn it into a regional-language module with a scenario assessment, assign it to a sample property including a contract housekeeping unit, and show you the audit export.
